We're here to help you find your perfect Florida place in the sun!
The area from Grant-Valkaria through Sebastian is located on the Indian River, part of the intracoastal waterway, along Florida‘s east central coast, also popularly known as the Treasure Coast. In 1988, not far from the Sebastian Inlet, treasure hunters found an estimated $300,000 in pieces of eight, jewelry and other artifacts lost in the sinking of Spanish Fleet in 1715.
America's First National Wildlife Refuge, Pelican Island, and Sebastian Inlet, renowned for its outstanding fishing, are located here.
Vero Beach to the south and Melbourne to the north are both about a twenty minute drive from these uncongested communities. The Disney attractions, Universal Studios, Sea World and the Kennedy Space Center are all within a 90 minute drive.
The riverfront boasts several unique casual seafood restaurants. Numerous marinas harbor a wide variety of pleasure boats. Every year folks enjoy the Grant Seafood Festival, the Sebastian Clam Festival and several major outdoor art shows along the riverfront.
Fishing, boating, kayaking, surfing, kite boarding, biking, and skydiving, are among the area’s popular activities. Several major annual fishing tournaments, skydiving events, and surfing contests are enjoyed by both participants and spectators.
Pelicans, bald eagles, sand hill cranes, storks, alligators, manatees, and dolphin are just a few examples of the outstanding variety of wildlife here. The Sebastian River, branching off the intracoastal waterway, divides the riverfront communities of Roseland in Indian River county and Little Hollywood in Brevard county. It winds lazily westward through undeveloped wilderness.
A short drive over the causeway at Wabasso to the south or Melbourne to the north lies the beach. Several county parks line the shore offering ample free parking, restroom facilities, showers and boardwalks over the dunes to the beach.
Micco is the southernmost town in Brevard County. It includes a number of homes within blocks of the Indian River. The manufactured home communities of Barefoot Bay, Snug Harbor Lakes and Snug Harbor Village are one of the few such communities where residents own both their home and the land. Their home and the property is collectively considered real estate. Residents pay taxes, not lot rent.
Barefoot Bay has over 5,000 homes and invites residents of all ages, though the majority are retired or semi retired. The Snug Harbor communities are restricted to residents 55 years of age and over. Many of the residents of all three are seasonal.
All three have a full complement of amenities including pools, tennis courts and community buildings to host events. Barefoot Bay has its own 18 hole golf course available at a reduced rate for residents and open to the public as well. A long pier over the Indian River and a private beach area are also enjoyed by Barefoot Bay residents.
Homeowner’s Association fees are $684 annually collected in your tax bill in Barefoot Bay and less than $40 per month in the Snug Harbor communities. There are secure storage areas to park boats, trailers and RV’s.
Lakes and canals offer the option of waterfront and water view properties. Homes on the golf course are available in Barefoot Bay.
Come enjoy the charm of the area that many are already experiencing!
